Flight simulator company Frasca International announced on Thursday that it has been named a subcontractor for the U.S. Navy TH-73A aircrew training services (ATS) contract. As part of the agreement, Frasca will install eight new TH-73 flight training devices (FTDs) and modify ten existing TH-57B/C models to better reflect the Navy’s TH-73A Advanced Helicopter Training System (AHTS). The primary contract was awarded to FlightSafety International company FlightSafety Defense, which will operate and maintain the Frasca FTDs along with providing training support.
“The ATS contract is a key component to the AHTS because it provides contract instructors and state-of-the-art FTDs for the new Leonardo TH-73A helicopters, which will be used to train rotary student naval aviators,” Frasca said. “The new helicopters will ensure the Navy has the capacity to train several hundred aviation students per year at Naval Air ....

Frasca To Expand Manufacturing Facility

Flight simulator manufacturer Frasca International has announced plans to expand its manufacturing facility in Urbana, Illinois. The expansion will add capacity for two additional Level D full flight simulators (FFS), bringing the total number of FFS pads at the location to five. The company says that upsizing will also allow them to build simulators for larger aircraft.
“Adding this manufacturing space is one visible element to our strategic plan to increase our engineering and manufacturing throughput,” said Frasca International President John Frasca. “Other investments include 3D printing, network infrastructure upgrades and staffing additions.”
Frasca cites strong flight simulator sales, including a recent Level D FFS contract with an undisclosed helicopter operator, as reason for the expansion. Construction on the facility is expected to begin this coming spring with a completion date of September 20 ....

Epic Aircraft Partners with Frasca and ATP

Epic Aircraft has announced two support partnerships for its new E1000 GX turboprop single. The OEM has selected Frasca International to build the first simulator for its flight training program. It will be constructed around an authentic Epic cockpit including the Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite and GFC 700 automatic flight control system. It will provide, among other features, a three-channel visual system with a 220-by-58-degree spherical enclosure, custom visual databases, and an instructor operator station, and is expected to be installed at Epic’s flight training center in Bend, Oregon by the fourth quarter of 2021.
