WARREN A Niles man who has been jailed for 18 months awaiting trial in a rape case will have to wait another six months.
Joshua Vigorito, 34, of Ann Avenue, Niles, on Monday waived his right for a speedy trial for another 180 days. In Ohio, defendants who are incarcerated have a right to be tried within 90 days.
Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Peter J. Kontos set a new trial date for June 1.
Vigorito is charged with felony rape and kidnapping.
Kontos also set a pretrial hearing for Jan. 11 in the case that involves a 25-year-old woman for an incident that allegedly occurred in May 2019 in the 800 block of Belmont Avenue in Niles. ....
