County to launch Preparedness Council to plan for disasters
Spurred by three federally declared disasters in 2020-21, Clackamas County Commssioners announce move
The Clackamas County Board of Commissioners has announced it will form a community Emergency Preparedness Council, to help residents int he wake of three federally declared disasters within Clackamas County over the past year.
The advisory council is meant to provide community input around specific aspects of disaster planning and response for all types of hazards. Commissioners said the council will strengthen community engagement around emergency preparedness.
Responding to emergencies takes a community effort, Clackamas County Board Chair Tootie Smith said. We are grateful to our residents who will work alongside us to prepare in advance of and respond to disasters in Clackamas County. ....

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) invites teens from communities across the Southeast to apply for FEMA’s National Youth Preparedness Council. The Council provides an opportunity for young leaders to share their perspectives, feedback and opinions on disaster preparedness with FEMA emergency managers and grow their leadership skills.
“FEMA’s Youth Preparedness Council offers young people an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of disaster preparedness while providing them an opportunity to make a change in their communities,” said Gracia Szczech, FEMA’s regional administrator for Region IV, which comprises the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tenn ....
