DeKalb County Community Calendar: June 5 - August 8


The Town of Hammondville is hosting is first annual car show on Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at 10 a.m. Vehicles may register the day of the event, $25 per vehicle and $20 per motorcycle. There will be a 50/50 drawing, music, food, prizes and various vendor booths. All proceeds will go to refurbish Hammondville’s baseball field.
The Fort Payne City Pool is open Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Daily pass is $3, Individual Season Pass is $100 and Family Pass (up to 4) is $150 with $10 per each additional child. Hours may vary based on staffing, attendance, maintenance and weather.
The 110th Annual DeKalb County Fiddlers’ Convention has been canceled. It is presented annually by Landmarks of DeKalb County and the City of Fort Payne in the Fort Payne Opera House. Future plans will be announced. ....

The Hope Center, PILR and Circles battle poverty issues in Pratt

Pratt is unique in its small-town ability to help people needing help. Three local organizations available here for those seeking assistance are the Hope Center, Circles of Hope, Pratt County, and Prairie Independent Living Resource Center, Inc. (PILR, pronounced Pillar). These three programs function independently, yet as they work together, more people are helped. 
“These organizations work together so no one group is spinning its wheels,”  said Pam Ford, Director of the Hope Center. “We are cohesive so real help happens.”
The Hope Center is the hub of help in town. Its purpose is to offer a coordinated and partnered approach to serving the community and to meet the needs of individuals and families. Within the Center one can find the Agape Health Clinic, the Paper Pantry (goods are supplied by the Episcopal Church), and the Hope Emergency Food Pantry. Lisa Hart provides Marketplace Health Insurance counseling and help with me ....
