From staff reports READY TO LAUNCH 50TH SEASON â From left, Crystal Sharma, Kelsey Ohler and Connie Wendel are all smiles after receiving their scripts from Director Diana Mendel, right, for âFour Old Broads,â which the Brooke Hills Playhouse will present May 28-30 and June 4-6 during what is the kickoff of its celebratory 50th anniversary year. Brooke Hills Playhouse is located in Brooke Hills Park, about 5 miles east of Wellsburg. On Fridays and Saturdays the show starts at 8 p.m. Box office opens at 7 p.m. On Sundays the show starts at 2 p.m., and the box office opens at 1 p.m. Ticket prices are $12 for adults; $10 for seniors (55 years and older) and students; and $8 for children. Season ticket holders from 2020 may use their remaining tickets for the 2021 season. Season tickets for the four shows of 2021 will be $36 for adults; $30 for seniors and students; and $24 for children. Jackie Huff, administrator for the county health department, spoke to county commissioners Thursday, providing an update and noting a vaccine clinic is scheduled for today, with more than 900 residents scheduled to receive their shots. ....

Staff writer WELLSBURG The Brooke County Commission received an update, Tuesday, on efforts to test and vaccinate local residents for COVID-19. Mike Bolen, administrator of the county’s health department, said the department continues to administer vaccine to residents who are 65 or older, averaging 150 to 250 vaccinations per week, depending on its availability. Bolen said the department has little advance notice of when and how much vaccine will be available so it continues to work with the state to set appointments for those wanting it. He said residents seeking vaccination should continue to register through the state health department by calling (833) 734-0965 or visiting vaccinate.wv.gov because the intention is to alleviate the workload of local health departments so they may focus on the actual vaccinations. ....
