Delays and cost rises are dogging repairs of defective Auckland high-rise apartment block Victopia which, instead of costing $23.1million to remediate, will cost at least $35.2m. Ian Harris, project manager for the apartment residents via their body corporate, wrote to owners who have endured two years of repairs with substantial work yet to do.
Harris wrote about the costs and holdups fixing the 16-level block [14 apartment levels with two basements] on the Nelson St/Victoria St corner opposite TVNZ.
Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow LEGAL action against the builders of Glasgow’s superhospital has wrongly led to NHS bosses being “increasingly reluctant to comment” on issues related to infection control at the site, according to a new report. An interim report by the Oversight Board appointed by the Scottish Government found that the legal case “seems to be complicating the ability of the health board to be as open and responsive as patients and families need”. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is suing construction giant Brookfield Multiplex for £73 million in damages over a string of design flaws and defects which it claims have compromised “safe and effective healthcare” for patients at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) and Royal Hospital for Children (RHC) complex, which opened in 2015.
