Fox Creek RCMP investigate catalytic converter theft and give tips - ReachFM: Peace Country's hub for local and Christian news, and adult contemporary Christian programming.

On May 10, Fox Creek RCMP received a report that sometime overnight two trucks in a construction site had their catalytic converters stolen in the area of 120 street and 1 avenue in town. 
The Fox Creek RCMP recognize catalytic converter theft is a concerning crime trend and want to remind vehicle owners of some Crime Prevention tips. 
“Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design is a key factor in reducing theft of catalytic converters. Think about where you park your vehicle. Think about how the criminal would gain access to it, if there’s any way to prevent access or add a barrier, that’s what we recommend,” says Corporal James Deibert, Fox Creek Detachment Commander.  ....

Rotorua safety: $500k fund, more cameras, AI proposed

Rotorua Lakes Council will also consider extending CCTV coverage, and investigating artificial intelligence (AI) monitoring and community reporting apps.
The ideas come as part of the council s draft community safety plan, which will be discussed at a meeting of its Strategy, Policy and Finance committee on 11 March.
The committee will consider whether to recommend to the council, which next meets on 25 March, to approve the plan for public engagement.
A report for the meeting prepared by council strategy development manager Rosemary Viskovic said there was an increasing perception amongst residents and visitors that Rotorua s public spaces were not safe. ....
