President Foster hosts final panel on authoritarianism and Capitol riots

The College held the last of three virtual panels on April 9 featuring faculty members who discussed political trends surrounding the riots at the Capitol on Jan. 6. The event was the third and final installment of a series of discussions on the insurrection.
The panel was moderated by President Kathryn Foster and featured Dr. Sarah Chartock, Dr. Jarret Crawford, Professor Emilie Lounsberry and Dr. Nicholas Toloudis. Each professor shared insights from their professional experiences in the fields of political science, psychology, journalism and international studies, respectively.
The event was co-sponsored by the Office of the President, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Division of Inclusive Excellence and the Department of Political Science. ....

60 years of service: Peace Corps panel features President Foster, other returned volunteers from the College

Peace Corps regional recruiter Sarah Price was joined by President Kathryn Foster, professor Donald Hirsch of the chemistry department and College alumna Jasmine Miller in a panel event on Wednesday, March 3 to celebrate 60 years of service with the Peace Corps. 
After a brief introduction from Price, the panelists, all of whom served in the Peace Corps in the past, were asked about their respective experiences.
Foster explained how she served from 1987 to 1989 as a land-use planner in the capital city of Swaziland (now known as the Kingdom of Eswatini) with the Ministry for Natural Resources. Hirsch narrated his experience teaching secondary math and science in the remote valley region of Swaziland.  ....
