Immigration lawyers have issued a robust defence against proposed reforms that could see them being hit with wasted costs orders as part of plans to end what the Home Office believes to be the practice of unmeritorious immigration and asylum claims brought at the last minute to frustrate the deportation process.
A six-week consultation on the Home Office’s New Plan for Immigration closes today. Proposals to streamline asylum claims and appeals include a good faith requirement for claimants and their representatives, and encouraging courts to use
The Law Society said the proposals lacked credibility because they are not supported by evidence or detail, and muddle immigration, asylum and nationality laws. ....

Utter violation of Central Scheme guidelines noticed

JAMMU, Jan 11: Taking serious note of misappropriation of funds and utter violation of guidelines laid under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj has initiated Regular Departmental Action (RDA) against the then Block Development Officer, who has been inducted into Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS), three Panchayat Inspectors and one Panchayat Secretary.
The Inquiry Officer has been directed to complete the exercise within a period of 15 days and submit report along with specific recommendations to the Government so that necessary action is initiated against all the involved officials. ....
