Stephenson County's RAMP is a 1-stop shop for people with disabilities

FREEPORT When individuals with disabilities in Stephenson County need help, they often turn to RAMP, which can serve as a one-stop shop for resources they need.
Founded in 1978, the service agency has been available to help disabled people of all ages live on their own as much as possible.
We want to encourage people to reach their full potential basically whatever that person wants to do and help them maintain an independent lifestyle, said Autumn Kubatzke, Stephenson County manager for RAMP.
The agency, located at 2155 W. Galena Ave., has information on a wealth of programs and services available to local disabled residents. The agency can be reached at 815-233-1128. Many adults along with parents with disabled children are unaware of the vast majority of resources RAMP officials have access to and can be passed along without any charge. ....

Normal Council Approves Key Elements of Rivian Expansion

The Normal Town Council met remotely on Monday, May 3, 2021.
Just a month shy of sending its first mass-produced electric trucks off the production line, Rivian’s Twin City footprint is growing: On Monday, the Normal Town Council gave the manufacturing facility’s expansion an overwhelming thumbs up.
At its virtual meeting, the council approved several Rivian-related items, each on a 6-0 vote. Mayor Chris Koos was absent.
Topping the approval list was Normal annexing into town limits 380 acres of unincorporated McLean County property recently purchased by Rivian. The council then voted to rezone 320 acres of that land, which surrounds 419 N. Rivian Motorway, for manufacturing. The council also gave preliminary approval to upgrades planned for the company’s main Normal site at 100 N. Rivian Motorway. ....
