SINGAPORE: Thirty-one people were arrested in four cases of illegal speed trials from 2018 to 2020, Minister of State for Home Affairs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim told Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4).
These cases are pending investigations or court proceedings, he said.

S'pore recorded 367 stay-home notice, 130 quarantine order violations as at Jan 25


SINGAPORE - There have been 367 breaches of stay-home notices (SHNs) and 130 violations of quarantine orders as at Jan 25, said Minister of State for Home Affairs Faishal Ibrahim on Tuesday (Feb 2).
A total of 308,442 SHNs and 268,385 quarantine orders had been issued at that time, he added.
Associate Professor Faishal was responding in Parliament to Mr Louis Chua (Sengkang GRC), who had asked about the number of SHN and quarantine order breaches, as well as the penalties for these actions.
Those who breach SHNs and quarantine orders may be prosecuted under the Infectious Diseases Act, Prof Faishal said. They could be fined up to $10,000, jailed for up to six months, or both. ....

50 Grab vehicles fitted with AEDs to respond to cardiac arrests, with drivers trained as life-savers


SINGAPORE - More than 60 private-hire drivers have been trained and equipped to be lifesavers in an ongoing effort by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) to get more first responders on the roads.
Partnering with a ride-hailing firm for the first time, SCDF has fitted 50 Grab vehicles with automated external defibrillators (AEDs), which are portable devices that can send an electric shock to the heart to revive it during a cardiac arrest.
The 50 vehicles have also been equipped with fire extinguishers and first aid kits, and 64 Grab drivers have been trained to use the equipment, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and give basic first aid. ....

Youth mentoring programme is part of new anti-drug abuse campaign in Nee Soon Central


SINGAPORE - Nee Soon Central will soon have a youth mentoring programme advocating a drug-free lifestyle as part of a new anti-drug abuse campaign which was launched on Thursday (Jan 21) in the ward.
The campaign is a collaboration between the Nee Soon Central Youth Network, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), and the National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA).
Ahead of the campaign, 25 grassroots volunteers attended a training workshop conducted by the CNB to become anti-drug abuse ambassadors.
These volunteers will run the upcoming youth mentoring programme, which will also involve former drug offenders sharing their experiences and the negative impact their drug use had on their loved ones. ....
