New snowfall coming to Metro Vancouver this morning

The national weather forecaster is calling for another dump of snow in the Lower Mainland.
In a 4:46 a.m.  special weather statement, Environment Canada said a Pacific frontal system is due to arrive on B.C. s south coast this morning.
The snow is expected to become mixed with rain late this afternoon in some areas as another system reaches the region, the statement says. As is often the case, areas inland and those in the path of the Fraser Valley outflow winds particularly can expect snow to continue through Monday. ....

Simon Fraser Student Society endorses Burnaby Mountain gondola proposal


 
VANCOUVER
The Simon Fraser Student Society has thrown its support behind a proposal to build a gondola up Burnaby Mountain.
The student group has sent a letter to Burnaby City Council urging it to support the proposal, which would replace existing bus routes between Production Way University SkyTrain Station and the Simon Fraser University campus with a gondola. 
The letter expresses strong support for the project, and specifically for Route 1, a proposed route for the gondola that would travel directly from Production Way University station to the SFU Exchange.
Two other proposed routes would link the SkyTrain to the SFU campus via longer gondola lines that make turns part of the way through their routes.   ....

SFU students urge Burnaby City Council to approve TransLink's shortest gondola route


The results of the latest consultation will be presented to the city council this week, which will then make a recommendation on their preferred route option to TransLink management and the Mayors’ Council in the coming months.
TransLink management and the Mayors’ Council are expected to approve any route option recommended by the municipal government. This will then be added to the Mayors’ Council’s Plan or pursued as a standalone project using federal green infrastructure funding.

The preferred route of students, named the Route 1 option by TransLink, has a length of 2.7 km and an end-to-end travel time of six minutes. It has the lowest costs, with a construction cost of $210 million and an annual operating cost of $5.6 million, which is 30% less than the current bus operating costs. ....
