New pedestrian crossing outside South Bromsgrove High

This comes after the installation of speed bumps and a 20-mph speed limit along the road.
There have various safety concerns for students attending the high school, as previously the nearest crossing was by KFC, which is a five minute walk away.
County councillor for Bromsgrove South, Kyle Daisley said: “There has been some near misses across Charford Road and I know the students run out across the road, trying to dodge the traffic and parked cars.
“When I was elected in October 2019 I promised to do all I can to work with the police particularly the police crime commissioner to address speeding across Bromsgrove South and improve road safety. I was inundated with emails and telephone calls from residents about how dangerous it was to cross Charford road especially for students who attend South Bromsgrove High School. ....

Local election 2021: Bromsgrove Tories snub first hustings

THE first hustings for Bromsgrove candidates of the upcoming Worcestershire County Council election was held virtually last night (April 6) without the presence of a tory representative.
Dr David Nicholl of Bromsgrove South represented the Liberal Democrats, Councillor Peter McDonald of Rubery represented Labour and Councillor Steve Colella of Hagley and Clent Hills attended as an independent candidate.
Prospective candidates answered questions put forward by the public and chair of the hustings, Dean Smith, about public transport, climate change, road maintenance and trading standards.
Each representative agreed that the issue of climate change was important to their party, with Dr Nicholl claiming it is “an even bigger challenge than coming out of the pandemic.” ....

Meet the Lib Dems fighting to win Bromsgrove seats

Bromsgrove Lib Dems have announced two doctors, a student and a High Street worker as their candidates in May’s elections to Worcestershire County Council.
Bromsgrove East candidate is Sam Evans, a 22 year-old student who has lived in the area all his life. As a local campaigner he launched a petition to save the 202 bus service and has for greater enforcement against cars parking wholly on the pavement outside a busy roundabout in Aston Fields after residents raised concerns.
Joanna McKenna, who is standing for Bromsgrove West, lives in the town with her husband and children. She is a doctor in the NHS and earlier this year she set up a petition calling for the Government to assess vaccinating teachers before schools reopen. ....

Free anti-theft kits for Bromsgrove homes | Bromsgrove Advertiser

NEARLY 1,000 homes in Bromsgrove have been provided with Smart Water Kits in a new crime fighting initiative.
The kits, also known as forensic markers, contain a traceable liquid that can be used to mark possessions which deter thieves and reduces burglaries.
Bromsgrove Councillor Kyle Daisley, working with the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), John Campion, arranged for 850 homes in Aston Fields to get the kits.
And he says the scheme can be rolled out to other areas to help tackle crime.
Councillor Daisley, 23, who represents Bromsgrove South on Worcestershire County Council, said “Smart water is a fantastic scheme and something I am very pleased to provide to residents. ....

Councillors in Charford are celebrating a triple road safety success.
A plan for a pedestrian crossing outside Bromsgrove High School follows the installation of speed bumps in Charford Road and a 20mph speed limit along part of Lyttleton Avenue.
Local County Councillor Kyle Daisley and District Councillor Michael Thompson said they had worked closely with the head of Bromsgrove South, Chris Smith over the pedestrian crossing.
