BROCKTON Thursday marks the first day that educators in Massachusetts are eligible throughout the state to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. And, in Brockton, by the end of Tuesday, Brockton Public Schools hope that half of its nearly 3,000 staff members will have their first dose. The school district has partnered with the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center to secure 1,500 vaccine appointments for staff members on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. BROCKTON For Brockton police Detective Ernie Bell, getting the COVID-19 vaccine seemed like a no-brainer. “I feel good about getting the vaccine, and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to get it,” Bell said after getting his shot on Monday morning. “My mother’s on oxygen, I have a lot of sick family members, so it’s not only to protect myself, but to protect them. And serving the public, I’d hate to get it and pass it on to somebody.” Bell was one of more than 100 members of the Brockton police and fire departments who were administered the Moderna vaccine at Brockton High School on Monday.
