Placer County Supervisors approve temporary moratorium on new VHR permits on North Shore

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. - Due to a growing housing crisis in the North Lake Tahoe Region, the Placer County Board of Supervisors voted on Tuesday to approve a temporary moratorium on the issuance of new short-term rental permits. This is just the latest in a series of actions to to and address the unprecedented crisis.
The urgency ordinance, approved by a 4-0 vote, took effect upon board adoption and with two exceptions. It stops the issuance of all new short-term rental permits within the transient occupancy tax boundaries in eastern Placer County for an initial 45-day period. Exceptions to the moratorium are: Renewal applications for existing permits with no outstanding fees or violations and new applications submitted at least 24 hours prior to Tuesday’s approval. ....

COVID-19 spread slows across Nevada and Placer counties

As of Thursday morning, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nevada County had reached 3,925. There are 112 new cases since last Thursday, Feb. 18, indicating a 3% increase.
Of the 3,925 total cases, 3,698 have been released from isolation and 153 are presently active. There have been 74 deaths by COVID-19 in Nevada County, none in the last three weeks.
Officials from Nevada County’s Department of Public Health encouraged residents to sign up for MyTurn to receive notification of vaccine eligibility and open appointments. Visit myturn.ca.gov

According to a press release issued by the county on Feb. 15, 15,000 of the available vaccines on-hand were committed for appointments ....
