Montana Farm Bureau leaders meet with agency leaders in nation's capital

It’s been 16 months since Montana Farm Bureau leaders headed to Washington, D.C. to attend important meetings, instead turning to their computers to continue the dialogue. Montana Farm Bureau President Hans McPherson and Vice President Cyndi Johnson traveled to the capital city July 12-14, 2021 for American Farm Bureau’s Council of Presidents. Fifty state Farm Bureau presidents, along with Puerto Rico, gathered together to discuss essential agricultural issues and meet with top agency personnel.
“We received updates from American Farm Bureau staff regarding immigration, labor, and livestock issues, as well as the right to repair your own farm machinery, infrastructure and taxes,” noted McPherson. “The key takeaway is Farm Bureau is a non-partisan organization and we are committed to advocating for agriculture with whomever is in control. Now it’s the Biden Administration, and it was informative to learn what they view as positive changes and things they plan to do ....

Montana Farm Bureau Weighs in on 30x30 Land Grab Threat

Help us fight the 30x30 land grab. That was the focus of a big meeting hosted by the United Property Owners of Montana, the Fergus County Livestock Association, and the Fergus County Farm Bureau in Lewistown, Montana recently.
Now, the American Farm Bureau Federation is weighing in. AFBF fired off a letter to President Biden outlining their concerns with the 30x30 initiative.
According to a news release from the Montana Farm Bureau:
AFBF: The American Farm Bureau Federation has called on the administration to act responsibly in conservation efforts. Specifically, President Biden’s goal to conserve at least 30% of our lands and waters by 2030, commonly referred to as “30x30,” is raising questions. Three key requests are outlined in a letter to President Biden: that the administration provide clarity on the initiative; that the effort recognizes voluntary conservation efforts already underway; and that the administration seeks input from farmers and ranchers. ....
