THE approval of 250 new homes next to a busy Highworth road could be overturned if the town s council succeeds in its effort to call in the decision.
Councillors representing Highworth unanimously agreed to request for the approval of the sizeable development to be flagged up with the secretary of state for housing, communities and local government.
If the higher planning authority agrees with the concerns raised about Gladman Developments new estate, Swindon Borough Council s green light for the project could be switched to red.

250 Highworth homes could get green light despite fears of neighbours and town council

Controversial plans for 250 homes on Shrivenham Road near Highworth
A development of 250 houses on the edge of Highworth could be given the go ahead despite objections of neighbours, the town council and even the concerns of the borough council’s own highways department.
Swindon Borough Council’s planning committee meets on Tuesday to discuss the plan put forward by Gladman Development to build the houses on farmland off Shrivenham Road at the southern edge of the hilltop town. It had previously put off making a decision in December because of fears about the road.
The report by planning officers recommends the plan be approved – even though it details more than 50 letters of objection by residents and serious concerns by the council’s highways officers because of the speed of traffic on the road. ....

Claims Kinghorn could suffer more flooding if housing plans approved

Kinghorn residents have demanded an urgent review of the town’s water and sewage systems as plans for new homes raise fears of increased flooding.
Plans to build 140 houses at Mid Mire are to be considered by Fife Council in the coming months.
Croft an Righ, near the proposed site, suffered flooding last year which saw several residents forced from their home with some still waiting to return.
Residents fear applicant Gladman Development has not taken the recent flooding into account and how the new homes could impact a town “already at capacity”. ....
