Some NCR LGUs report of floods due to continuous Habagat rains

Some local government units in the National Capital Region on Thursday reported flooding in their areas as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continued to bringing rains in many areas across the country.
As of 10:30 a.m., the Valenzuela City government said that a nearly knee-deep flood was reported in front of the V. Reales-Canumay West Bypass Road in Barangay Vicente Reales.
 
In a local advisory however,  the LGU said that the V. Reales-Canumay West Bypass Road, as well as the Macarthur Highway, Maysan to Bagbaguin Road, and MH Del Pilar Road are still passable. ....

More families evacuated in Manila

The total number of families that have been evacuated climbed to 526 families, based on the data of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
A total of 155 families from District 1, 84 families from District 3, and 287 families from District 5.
The evacuees have been transferred to temporary shelters in the city which are Jose Abad Santos High School, Building 1 covered court, Barangay Hall Rooftop, PCI Building, barangay hall of Barangay 661, and Baseco Evacuation Center.
MDRRMO has set up tents for each family in the evacuation centers.
Each family will receive hot meals and food boxes that contain rice, canned goods, instant noodles, and coffee, according to the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW). ....

PDRF highlights MSME resilience during climate change forum


CALOOCAN CITY, April 22 (PIA)  The Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) presented its various projects supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in a recent online forum on climate change organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP).
The webinar, “Incorporation of Disaster Risk Reduction to Philippine Resiliency” was the first part of the “Catching Up to Climate Change” online series which tackled the impact of climate change on the country and how businesses can best adapt to the global crisis.
