Scuba divers have discovered the wreck of a 300-year-old Irish ship that ran aground off the southern Norwegian coast after the crew got drunk. 
The Providentz sank in relatively shallow waters off Mandal despite calm weather following a North Sea crossing in November, 1720.
The entire crew had been drunk as they sailed the ship towards the coast, according to the pilot’s statement, where they ran it aground. They were all rescued, along with the anchor, sails and rigging.
Three centuries later and divers from the Mandal Dive Club, one of the leading clubs in Norway have found a number of artefacts from the Providentz, including a large clay pot, a chalk pipe, bottles and porcelain. ....
