Chicago police have a mystery on their hands. Workers found a skull and bones stacked on train tracks near 109th and Eggelston. They could be human bones. Police and the medical examiner are investigating.
10,000 Ships, here’s
Deadline’s version of the premise, which is absolutely loaded with
Game Of Thrones lore: “The drama is expected to follow the journey made by warrior queen Princess Nymeria and the surviving members of the Rhoynars, who traveled from Essos to Dorne following their defeat by the Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War.”
Holy cow, those are some words. If none of that is clear to you, that premise would put it about 1,000 years before the stuff that happens in the original
Game Of Thrones. Historical figures that get referenced in the old show (like Nymeria) will show up, but there probably won’t be too many familiar things beyond that and all of the usual Westeros locations and general fantasy-themed death and misery.
Interview: Atom and His Package
interview by pr!
Atom and His Package is Adam Goren and… actually it’s just him and music gear. And while there are a million clones of electronica artists like Moby, there are few similar to the music of Atom and his Package. The sound? Lotsa punk, some pop and all done in a ‘here it is’ fashion. Adam is funny, smart (should be; he actually has college degree(s), a word that is hardly used by most of us and never pluralized) and most importantly, honest, so his music is usually received quite well. Not to say there are not naysayers; they exist, pointing in his direction, hating on his style, making fun of his lyrics. To those, I bear good news. Atom and his Package are really never going to play a show again. This saddens me. I challenge Adam to a mind meld. Hmm, should I be referring to him as Atom? Nevermind that. Ohmmmmmmm…

Skull and Bones was formed in 1832 by William Huntington Russell and Alphonso Taft. According to some accounts, the society was formed after a dispute over elections to Phi Beta Kappa. Other sources conjecture that Russell modeled the society after European groups he encountered while studying in Germany. The society’s original name was the Eulogian Club. It was incorporated in 1856 as the Russell Trust Association.
The emblem of the society is a skull and crossbones with the number “322” beneath it. The number is generally taken to refer to the year (322 bce) of the death of the Greek orator Demosthenes, a turning point in the transformation of ancient Athens from democracy to plutocracy. The society’s clubhouse is a monumental brownstone building in New Haven called the Tomb. Originally built in 1856, the Tomb was doubled in size in 1903 and has since been further enlarged.
