JUNEAU, Wis. A Beaver Dam man was sentenced to life in prison Monday for murdering his ex-wife.
On March 2019, 33-year-old Ulisses Medina Espinosa entered a residence in Beaver Dam as Stacia Hollinshead and the couple’s five-year-old child were visiting Medina’s parents. Officials said the man shot Hollinshead 19 times in front of their child.
Medina Espinosa pleaded guilty to first-degree intentional homicide in December.
The man claimed he was mentally unstable and had a “perceived need to defend himself at the time of the shooting,” according to Dodge County District Attorney Kurt Klomberg’s office. ....

Beaver Dam man will spend life behind bars for killing ex-wife

JUNEAU - Ulisses Medina Espinosa, 33, of Beaver Dam, was sentenced Monday to life in prison for the 2019 murder of his ex-wife, Stacia Hollinshead, an Illinois assistant state attorney.
Hollinshead was with their 5-year-old daughter visiting Medina Espinosa’s parents when the defendant came to the residence in Beaver Dam on the afternoon of March 23 and shot Hollinshead 19 times, in the presence of the child, said Dodge County District Attorney Kurt Klomberg.
The couple separated several years ago, and were divorced in 2016. The mother of Medina Espinosa told police a judge had granted full custody of her granddaughter to Hollinshead, and her son had lost his parental rights, court records state. ....
