After staying put with his Amazon stock all year, the e-commerce and cloud computing giant’s founder Jeff Bezos completed his second stock sale in the same week, according to filings to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The outgoing Amazon CEO sold more than $2.4 billion worth of Amazon shares, bringing his one-week total to $4.9 billion.
Bezos sold nearly 740,000 shares worth $2.5 billion on Monday and Tuesday, in his first sale of Amazon stock since Election Day last year. According to five SEC documents, he did the same thing on Wednesday and Thursday, selling another 740,000 shares to net $1.9 billion after taxes, based on ....

Travel, Tourism & Hospitality New report shows value of IP to the tourism sector

A new report published jointly by WIPO and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) on the value of intellectual property (IP) in boosting tourism shows how the IP system creates a favorable ecosystem for innovation, entrepreneurship and investment in the sector.
 
The publication, entitled “Boosting Tourism Development through Intellectual Property,” highlights good practices, features case studies and recommendations for policymakers and other tourism stakeholders on how to ensure that creativity, innovation, traditions and cultural heritage in tourism are properly protected and commercialized and that the benefits are shared by all.
 
In a joint Foreword, WIPO Director General Daren Tang and UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili, predict that while the tourism sector has taken a hit during the Covid-19 pandemic, it will recover and “contribute to reigniting hard-hit economies and societies thanks to its capacity to adapt t ....

In 2013, legendary bassist Sammy Kasule returned to Uganda to settle after decades abroad. Kasule went ahead to lend his amazing talent to Afrigo band and later Ziwuuna band, before his death last week in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confiscated illegal drugs worth P1.08 million in a surprise greyhound operation of the cells inside the Cebu City Jail male dormitory early Thursday morning, May 6, 2021.
Apart from the illegal drugs, the police also seized contraband and firearms, including a .45 caliber pistol, its magazine assembly and live ammunition, cell phones, sharp weapons, and cigarettes, which are all forbidden inside the City Jail. ....
