Former Centralia officer Clint Baer was sentenced to eight years in prison after he pleaded guilty in October, to try and have sex with a minor.
According to a release, Baer began talking to someone he believed to be the mother of a 14-year-old girl through a social networking site. Over the course of several months, Baer exchanged sexually detailed and explicit text messages and phone calls, via social media, with her. In Baer’s sexually explicit messages, he expressed his desire to engage in sexual activity with the 14-year old girl as well as the mother. In reality, Baer was speaking with an undercover FBI agent. ....

It began with Nicholas Hocker Gentry from Sedalia.
In 1897, he presented a resolution at the fifth annual Missouri Swine Breeders Association to ask the general assembly to establish a State Fair. Other associations followed with additional resolutions.
On Jan. 15, 1899, Representative Cyrus F. Clark introduced a bill to create a Missouri State Fair. With support from Gov. Lawrence V. Stephens, the bill passed in April.
Stephens was the son of Joseph L. Stephens who had been the recording secretary of the Missouri State Agricultural Society which organized the first three state expositions/fairs in Boonville in 1853-55. ....

CENTRALIA The middle school years are a complex time in a young person’s life. It can be a time of self-discovery as they try to navigate the world and work to find their place in it. We often turn to the experts doctors, psychologists and counselors to tell us how kids are doing amid the pandemic, but we don’t often hear from the young teens directly.
“The importance of listening to students and giving them a voice helps us understand their world and it allows us to be able to address their needs in a quality manner,” Centralia Middle School Principal Kristeen Johnson said. ....
