The Congress is pushing ahead with changes in its organizational leadership after yesterday s meeting with the dissidents with an overhaul in leadership in four states Telangana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

When Chidambaram said the Congress has a fighting chance in Tamil Nadu, Rahul retorted saying the Congress is just an adjunct of the DMK and it is the DMK which is fighting the election. He also reminded former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, as also Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, that the RSS was very well-entrenched in the bureaucracy in both the states.
Rahul said he was ready to do whatever the party wanted but sources in both the camps said that remark was not in the context of him returning to the helm.
The letter-writers underlined the challenges: two successive general election losses and the movement of youth away from the party. The party has been vanquished in the Hindi heartland and “unless and until there is a revival, there is no hope,” they said. They made it clear that there should be an election for the post of Congress president, to CWC and to posts at all levels. ....

At least 15 leaders on Saturday arrived at the residence of Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi here, including several of the G23 leaders who had written for an active president in the party.
The leaders included Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Vivek Tanka, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Prithviraj Chavhan, Ambika Soni, Manish Tewari, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Pawan Bansal, Harish Rawat, Anand Sharma, Shashi Tharoor, AK Antony and several others.

New Delhi: Congress’ interim president Sonia Gandhi will on Saturday meet senior leaders to formulate the party’s next strategy on the political scenario at present amid the ongoing farmers’ agitation against the Centre’s agriculture laws, and also deliberate on the Congress’ poor performances in the recent state elections and bypolls. The meeting is supposed to last 10 days.
