ISLAMABAD:
The government has decided to set up Pakistan Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority with the objective of taking provinces on board while regulating affairs of the upstream industry.
At present, the director general petroleum concession (DGPC) regulates the upstream petroleum industry.
The draft Pakistan Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority Bill 2021 has been submitted to the Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Cases for approval. ....

A sub-committee of the lower house of parliament has proposed that the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) should be assigned the task of conducting initial testing of the people applying for government jobs.

New legislation calls for establishment of special courts to expedite trials of rape and sexual assault cases
President Arif Alvi on Tuesday approved the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Ordinance, 2020 to help expedite trials of rape cases, as well as implement harsher punishments for anyone convicted of such offenses.
Under the ordinance, special courts will be set up nationwide to expedite the trials of rape cases on priority basis. It calls for all cases to be resolved within four months and also mandates the establishment of Prime Minister’s Anti-Rape Crisis Cells to conduct medico-legal examinations of all victims within six hours of any sexual assault being reported. ....

President Dr Arif Alvi approved the government s stringent and holistic Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Ordinance, 2020 on Tuesday, to help expedite cases of sexual abuse against women and children.
Under this ordinance, special courts are to be set up across the country to expedite trials and cases of rape at the earliest. The courts are to deal with rape cases within four months. ....
