Cibolo (Guadalupe County) A representative for an Arizona-based charter school network discussed their plans with the Planning & Zoning Commission about building a Pre-K-to-8th elementary/middle school in time to open by August 2022.
The school planned for Cibolo is one of two San Antonio-area campuses the organization wants to open on that time frame. The other will be located in San Antonio’s West Side. ....

PHOENIX - Officials with a number of charter schools and school districts in Arizona are reacting to Gov. Ducey s decision on April 19 to rescind an order that requires schools in Arizona to implement a mask mandate for its students and staff members.

Nearly 2 million Arizonans are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with many teachers and school faculty now fully vaccinated after being some of the first in line for vaccine prioritization, the Governor wrote. Teachers, families, and students have acted responsibly to mitigate the spread of the virus and protect one another, and our school leaders are ready to decide if masks should be required on their campuses. ....

PHOENIX – Primavera online charter school, like many businesses this spring, sought help from the federal Paycheck Protection Program to weather the economic disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Chandler, Arizona, school received a PPP loan of nearly $2.2 million, the largest forgivable loan among the 132 Arizona charter schools that obtained them.
But Primavera s loan appears to have been more of a bonus than a lifeline. 
The school, which like all Arizona public schools didn t lose state funding because of the pandemic, ended its fiscal year on June 30 with $8.8 million in the bank – almost double the annual payroll costs for its 85 teachers, records show. ....
