Charles “Rusty” E. Larimer
Charles “Rusty” E. Larimer, 76, of Bellefonte, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born on July 18, 1944 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Herbert F. and Mildred (Mann) Larimer. On May 27, 1967 he married the love of his life, Charlotte (Burch) Larimer, who survives at home after sharing nearly 54 years of marriage together.
Rusty was a 1962 graduate of Bellefonte High School. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force from July 1962 until he was honorably discharged in in June 1966. Rusty worked for Verizon for 35 years until his retirement. He worked part time in retirement at Triangle Building and Supplies. ....

Bayonne honors DPW supervisor who died from COVID-19

Bayonne has lost one more resident to COVID-19, this time another prominent city employee.
“Our city is in mourning as Covid-19 has, once again, taken one of our own,” Mayor James Davis said in a statement.
Davis said Martire “Matt” Portenti gave more than 33 years of faithful service to the city.
“Matt was always visible and friendly with a huge heart and a helping hand to all,” Davis said.
To honor Portenti, “I am directing all municipal U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Matt’s dedicated service to our community,” Davis said. “To Ann Marie, Elisa, and Michael, and the entire Portenti family, our entire city grieves with you. Rest In Peace Matt, you will be greatly missed.” ....

Meet Garden City Downtown Vision's new director, Melissa Gallegos


Melissa Gallegos took over the position from Sheila Crane on Dec. 18.
Gallegos is a longtime resident of Garden City, moving here when she was 10 years old.
She attended Garden City High School, graduating in 1998. After high school, Gallegos attended Garden City Community College, where she earned an associate degree in music education.
Gallegos and her husband, Javier, have been married for nearly 17 years and have two children, Jaxton, 15, and Huxley, 5.
Outside of work, Gallegos enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering. She currently volunteers with Finney County United Way s Allocation Committee and the city of Garden City s Arts Grant Committee. ....

Kimbi Lee Bell and Thomas Matthew Skelton were united in marriage at four o clock in the afternoon December 9, 1995 at the Gatlinburg Wedding Chapel in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in a traditional candlelight ceremony.
The Magazine Club met at the beautifully decorated home of Mrs. Ann Powell for their annual Christmas meeting on December 12, 1995. Fourteen members answered roll call with Christmas memories from now and then. Mrs. Colleen Forrer, presided over a brief business meeting. Mrs. Margaret Lankford invited the club to meet at her home in January. ....
