Marion City Schools to save $250,000 in Iarussi retire/rehire contract

After hosting a public meeting earlier this month, the Marion City Schools Board of Education approved the terms and conditions on a new contract for Superintendent Ron Iarussi s retire/rehire deal that is expected to save the district $250,000.
Iarussi was hired as superintendent of MCS in August 2018 and his current five-year contract ends July 31, 2023. However, he is eligible to retire in the State Teacher Retirement System based on his age and years of service. Iarussi will retire July 31.
Board president Leslie Schneider said during Wednesday s meeting that Iarussi s new contract will begin August 3 and last until July 31, 2026. In terms of salary, the superintendent will take a pay cut, as it will stay frozen at $159,000 for all five years. Iarussi s current salary is $169,000 and would have increased to $174,000 on August 1. ....

MARION - The Marion City Schools Board of Education has hired Jennifer Sheridan as the new director of Student Services. Sheridan replaces Kelley Barber, who accepted another position last year. Kathy Leffler and Kim Burke have been serving as interim directors for this school year.
Sheridan will begin her new duties July 1. She has served over 10 years in public education in various positions, including classroom teacher, intervention specialist and currently as Student Services supervisor in the school district. Sheridan has extensive experience working with students of all ages, especially those with special needs. She has strong connections to the community and has built relationships with a wide variety of community partners. ....
