MARIETTA, Ga - Anyone who will be driving through Marietta had better slow down. City leaders are looking at ways to crack down on speeders. They re taking a close look at adding speed cameras to the school zones.
Mayor Steve Tumlin said for years he s been hearing complaints about drivers speeding through neighborhood streets.
It s one of our biggest complaints, cut through neighborhoods, speed through my neighborhoods. We just don t have enough manpower to have police everywhere, said Mayor Tumlin. ....

MARIETTA Following the apprehension of a suspect in the series of bomb and active shooter threats that plagued southeast Ohio schools in the last week, schools are back in session today.
Nicholas John Frances Hall, 18, of 1385 Washington Road, Thomson, Ga., was arrested in McDuffie County, Ga., by McDuffie County Sheriff’s Deputy Jared Land on Tuesday following a six-day investigation spanning three states and the coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies and school districts. ....

MARIETTA, OH The bomb threats in and around Washington County are hopefully over. Bomb threats started rolling in on May 6th to Waterford, but they quickly spread out. Chief Deputy Mark Warden said between May 6th to May 11th, Washington County saw 13 bomb threats.

Marietta School s Bomb Threat Update
Marietta Police Department has responded to 2 separate Bomb Threats called into City schools. The first was made to Marietta Middle School at about 7:50 this morning. Marietta Police and Fire Chief Durham searched the building with the assistance of the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies and also assisted with the evacuation of the students.
The second call was at 11:15AM to Saint Mary’s School. The building was evacuated and Officers are still on scene awaiting an explosive searching K9 from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
These are believed to be connected to the other threats occurring around the area over the last week and MPD investigators are working with Investigators from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. ....
