71-year-old Marietta Man Is Missing | Newstalk 910 WLTP

The Marietta Police department is currently investigating a missing, 71 year old man, Ernest Howard Cox, who was last seen at his residence on Glendale Road the afternoon of 05/18/2021. Ernest is 5'9", 135 pounds, with grey hair and a grey beard. His was last seen wearing a red shirt. Ernest is only familiar with the area immediately near the Frontier Shopping Center and his direction of travel is unknown. If located, please immediately contact the Marietta Police Department at 740-376-2007.

Cobb County Government: New 911 Emergency Communications Director Selected, Marietta

During its regular meeting Tuesday, May 11, the Cobb Board of Commissioners unanimously selected the head of the Roswell 911 Center as its new director for the county 911 Emergency Communications Department.
Melissa Alterio has led the Roswell 911 center for the past five years and worked in emergency communications for a total of 30 years. She previously served as the training director for the Orange County Emergency Services (911) in Goshen, N.Y.

"Ms. Alterio brings to Cobb County's Emergency Communications Department a wealth of valuable experience, knowledge and passion for helping others," said Cobb County Manager Dr. Jackie R. McMorris. "She's committed to professional development of team members and seeks accreditation to our Emergency Communications Department. ATLANTA — Marietta Police Officer Ryan Smith is a hero on and off duty. While eating at Canoe Restaurant, he sprang into action to save a woman from drowning on Saturday.
Smith told 11Alive that he joined his girlfriend and her mother for food and drinks by the river, before he noticed the woman in the water.

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — Hey whatever happened to Ryan Smith? The kid from Ellicott City. He was the lifeguard at North St Johns Swim and Tennis Club.
He went onto graduate from Mt. Hebron High School. Whatever happened to him? Well, Saturday night, he saved a woman from drowning on the Chattahoochee River.
“I was out with my girlfriend Hannah Roberts and her mom at the Canoe Restaurant. That’s when we notice a woman in a raft struggling in the water," said Ryan.

Marietta School's Bomb Threat Update
Marietta Police Department has responded to 2 separate Bomb Threats called into City schools. The first was made to Marietta Middle School at about 7:50 this morning. Marietta Police and Fire Chief Durham searched the building with the assistance of the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies and also assisted with the evacuation of the students.
The second call was at 11:15AM to Saint Mary’s School. The building was evacuated and Officers are still on scene awaiting an explosive searching K9 from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
These are believed to be connected to the other threats occurring around the area over the last week and MPD investigators are working with Investigators from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Man charged with murder for killing teenagers in Johnson County - 41NBC News

WRIGHTSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has named a suspect in the Johnson County murders of two teenagers.
22-year old Daniel Payton Brinson of Washington County is charged with two counts of malice murder for the deaths of 18-year old Destiny Hope Kight of Wrightsville and 18-year old Charles Jaylon Garrett of East Dublin.
Kight and Garrett were found dead at 1383 Paul Lord Road in Wrightsville on April 23rd. They had been shot.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest Friday morning. According to a news release from the GBI, Brinson knew Garrett, and the investigation is ongoing.

Man charged with murder of Wrightsville teen couple


He was arrested last month on unrelated charges in Marietta, Georgia

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Washington County man is now facing two murder charges in the April killing of a Wrightsville teen couple.
According to a GBI news release, they have secured arrest warrants for 22-year-old Daniel Brinson on two counts of malice murder. Those charges stem from the deaths of Destiny Kight and Charlie Garrett.
Brinson was arrested by Marietta Police in Cobb County on unrelated charges on Monday, April 26. He is in custody at the Cobb County jail.
The investigation is still ongoing.
