The university is enrolling children now for the two-year, multi-tiered study.
Testing the vaccine in children is crucial in keeping them safe from the serious effects of the novel coronavirus, said Dr. Joseph Domachowske, Upstate’s principal investigator for the trial.
“Children who have been infected are at risk for developing multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, known as MIS-C, even if their initial illness was mild or asymptomatic,” Domachowske said in a news release. “We need safe and effective vaccines for children to keep them healthy, to prevent MIS-C, and to reduce potential transmission to others.” ....
