USask Developed Resource Being Marketed Outside the Institution

A University of Saskatchewan clinical resource developed for pharmacists is growing in popularity.
Since last September, a number of Canadian pharmacy schools, professional associations, and private companies have been paying licensing fees to USask to use a set of 27 prescribing guidelines.
It was created and maintained by medSask, a drug information service for Saskatchewan health-care professionals and residents located in USask’s College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. The guidelines are a comprehensive resource for pharmacists designed to help them decide whether, and what, to prescribe for minor conditions and self-care conditions ranging from acne and cold sores, to urinary tract infections and hormonal contraception. ....

Saskatoon pharmacist suspended for professional misconduct

A Saskatoon pharmacist has been suspended by his peers for professional misconduct and professional incompetence after he skirted rules and regulations to give himself more than 5,800 sleeping pills over the course of nearly three years.
Dr. Gregory Lazurko, 34, had his licence suspended for 30 days and is ordered to pay more than $22,000 in fines and costs after a discipline committee found Lazurko guilty of five charges, including prescribing and administering drugs to himself.
Lazurko, a licensed pharmacist at Werezak’s Pharmacy Ltd. in Saskatoon, was sentenced by the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals during a virtual hearing on Oct. 14. ....

Sask. health care organizations join forces in online campaign targeting young adults COVID awareness

Health care organizations across Saskatchewan are teaming up in an online ad campaign that targets young adults and asks them to “hang in there” by following public health guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
A total of 25 health organizations have combined to support the campaign in a broadly based show of unity that spans the health system. The campaign’s website WeAreSickOfThisToo.ca expresses the campaign’s theme that young adults– along with all Saskatchewan people- want a return to normal while restrictions continue to be necessary as COVID case numbers rise.
The six-week online campaign includes website and social media advertising designed by MGM Communications. The campaign is designed to be empathetic as people grow fatigued by restrictions, yet call for compliance. ....
