The Book of Common Prayer has found a new audience among young people thanks to online services, with clergy saying congregants are looking for traditional comfort in times of uncertainty.
Many churches use the Common Worship service book, published in 2000, as services using the traditional liturgy – modified in 1662 – have been seen as less accessible. ....

Planning expert joins Archbishops' Housing Commission team | The Archbishop of Canterbury

The Head of Planning for the Duchy of Cornwall is to help take forward the Church of England’s work to tackle the housing crisis, it was announced today.
Nick Pollock has been seconded to a three-strong executive team reporting to the Church of England’s Lead Bishop for Housing, Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani, working to help the Church of England meet housing need in local communities.
He will join Canon Chris Beales, a member of the Archbishops’ Commission on Housing, Church and Community, who has been working with the Diocese of Gloucester; and Benjamin Preece Smith, Diocesan Secretary of the Diocese of Gloucester. ....

Swell Primary School appeal to fund essential extension | Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard

A SMALL Cotswold village school appeals to community to help raise £350,000 to fund an expansion.
Swell Primary School near Stow-on-the-Wold hit headlines across the world after launching its Swell Christmas Raffle in November.
This is in part thanks to the raffle’s coveted prize, a signed Fender guitar from Coldplay and 6,000 tickets have been sold so far.
The funds will be used to build an extension and replacement toilet block, originally added to the small village school in the 1960s.
To reach their target the the school is hoping to sell all 20,000 tickets on offer to kick start its fundraising campaign. ....
