Ramona NJROTC cadets hone their cybersecurity skills
Cadets hunker down to work a six-hour vulnerability window for the So Cal Cyber Cup Competition.

For six hours last month, eight Ramona NJROTC cadets were tasked with keeping their “business” IT network safe from hackers, malware and other vulnerabilities during the SoCal Cyber Cup. The NJROTC program has a dedicated facility on campus to conduct training and compete in CyberPatriot competitions.
Mentoring the Ramona NJROTC team is Jonathan Burchmore, who works in the industry.
“This year’s So Cal Cyber Cup put our cadets up against teams from across San Diego County in a test of computer security skills,” said Burchmore. “The competition required the cadets to learn and apply skills that will prepare them for a job in cybersecurity or IT. During the competition, the cadets used offensive, defensive and forensic techniques to overcome challenges.” ....

Ramona's Clark makes leap from trampoline to diving board - wins section title

During his middle school years, Caden Clark began to learn flips on the trampoline. When he made the transition from Olive Peirce Middle School to Mountain Valley Academy, he transferred some of those moves to the Bulldogs’ diving team.
It apparently worked. Clark, now a junior, won the CIF Division II boys diving championship on April 23.
Clark had 210.40 points on his six dives during the CIF meet at Granite Hills High School. La Jolla Country Day senior Ethan Estrada had the second-place Division II score of 181.55 points.
“Stuff like that does not come easy, and it takes a lot of dedication and hard work,” said Clark. ....

Volunteering at Mt. Woodson Elementary School years ago started Linda Phillips-Dodson down a path of part-time and full-time educational support jobs that culminated in her recent honor as Ramona Unified School District’s Classified Employee of the Year for 2021-22.
Phillips-Dodson, who works as a secretary V at Ramona Community Campus just one level below the district’s top-tier secretarial position said she was “shocked and surprised” when she was awarded the honor Feb. 25 in the school’s office. ....
