El Paso County getting nearly 13k vaccines next week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) The El Paso County Department of Public Health says the state will deliver 12,900 doses of COVID-19 vaccine next week to the county.
It s about double the doses the county has received per week on average, according to the local health department.
EPC Public Health says the doses will go directly to five providers to distribute to people over the age of 70. Those providers include UCHealth, Safeway, Centura, Optum/Mountain View Medical, and Peak Vista Community Health Centers.
“It is vital to our efforts to get more supplies from the state. CDPHE makes the decisions on vaccine distribution. We appreciate CDPHE for recognizing the need for more vaccines in El Paso County. This will allow us to vaccinate more people in the priority groups as established by the state. There is no higher priority than getting vaccines in arms so that we can prevent disease and move our county along ....

El Paso County to get 30% more COVID-19 vaccines next week after complaints


The state s plans to bolster supply in the county followed concern from county and city officials that the county was receiving less than 12.5% of the state s vaccine distribution even though it represents 12.5% of the state s population.
The governor s office fired back Wednesday, saying El Paso County had more than 10,000 doses sitting on shelves and that it prioritizes resupplying providers who are rapidly vaccinating patients. 
In a Thursday news release, El Paso County disputed the claim, saying no doses in the county have been shelved or wasted.
Each vaccine provider within El Paso County has an excellent record of tracking and distributing all vaccines sent by the state, the release stated. All vaccines received are targeted for necessary second doses for priority populations, imminent mass vaccination events or otherwise already in the distribution chain. ....

Updated state COVID-19 dial goes into effect

COLORADO SPRINGS — The updated state COVID-19 dial went in effect Saturday morning, placing counties in new levels including El Paso, Pueblo, and Teller counties.
Changes in the new dial include going by a 7 day instead of a 14 day metric. There are also some changes to capacity level caps.
In level Yellow, businesses can have up to 50% or 150 persons using a space calculator, this is a change from the 100 person cap.
The changes come as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to decline in Colorado.
During the governor s press conference Friday afternoon CDPHE Executive Director Jill Ryan acknowledged there has been a discrepancy in vaccine allocation with El Paso County. Ryan said staff is working to makeup the discrepancy. ....

El Paso County will receive 12,900 doses of COVID-19 vaccine early next week. This follows a Feb. 3 statement from El Paso County Public Health saying the county “has not received vaccine supply proportionate to population, and this needs to be remedied quickly.”
Public Health and El Paso County announced leadership at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment had notified them of the increased number of doses Feb. 4. 
“This is part of an ongoing commitment from CDPHE to increase vaccine allocation to El Paso County and the County anticipates increased doses in coming weeks,” the Public Health statement reads.  ....
