Teens getting vaccinated against COVID-19 talk about what they'll do this summer, once they're fully immunized.

Sean Murphy has a trick to getting teen boys to relax when they’re nervous about getting jabbed in the arm with a COVID-19 vaccination.
Murphy, an EMT working at the Salt Lake County Health Department’s mass-vaccination site at Sandy’s Mountain America Expo Center, goes through the standard questionnaire with each person. He runs down a list of potential health conditions, and with the boys he will pause ever so slightly when he asks: “Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?”
The question made Christopher Whitehead, a 13-year-old from West Jordan, smile and made his dad, Chris, chuckle. ....

Sam Etling has always wanted to be heard.
In the hardcore punk band Dead Either Way, Etling was tired of listeners unable to comprehend his screaming. With his latest project Sore Eyes, Etling just wants to be heard and understood. 
“It was a matter of me wanting listeners to understand my lyrics, because I feel like what I’m talking about is really important,” Etling said.
Initially Etling’s solo acoustic project, Sore Eyes now features a group of local punk rockers. Etling met drummer Matt Slusser while he was playing bass for the surf rock band Phantom Party. Slusser and Etling are now roommates.  ....

Outlets at Anthem feature 'Love Wall" mural created by a Glendale teen


A high school artist is hoping to spread some love in Arizona through a mural she painted at the Outlets at Anthem.
Influencers, families, cars and even dogs have all been photographed with the wall, using the hashtag #pinkwallaz to spread the love online.
“I’m enjoying it and I’m glad they’re enjoying it. This is my first mural and my first art piece that was ever this large scale,” said Chloe Merriweather, a senior at Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale.
Titled “Love Wall,” Merriweather painted an array of pink, red and white hearts with matching X’s and O’s on the outlet’s popular pink wall near the Vans and North Face stores. ....

PHOENIX A movement inspired by a fallen Glendale police officer needs funding, and its purpose seems especially poignant during this pandemic.
The Anthony Holly Foundation provides financial scholarships to less-privileged children to participate in sports leagues, swim lessons and summer camps. 
It has also provided grants to Big Brothers and Big Sisters, an organization Holly was especially passionate about.
“Tony lived life by his values and he would just love what the foundation has accomplished,” said Carrie Willems, one of Holly’s sisters. ....
