Jones named MHPD assistant chief

Mountain Home Police officer Chester “Bubba” Jones has been named the department’s new assistant chief, the City of Mountain Home announced Tuesday afternoon. He will succeed former assistant chief Eddie Griffin, who was named chief of police on April 7.
Jones has been with the Mountain Home Police Department for 23 years.

Mountain Home man facing 66 felony charges for catalytic converter thefts


A Mountain Home man who has had a number of run ins with law enforcement over the past 10 years and served time in the Arkansas Department of Corrections is behind bars again, this time facing a whopping 66 felony charges. Thirty-eight-year-old James Patrick Lally has been arrested in connection with the theft of a large number of catalytic converters over the last five weeks.
According to the probable cause affidavit in the case from the Mountain Home Police Department, officers took the first report of the theft of catalytic converters March 12. By April 6, Mountain Home Police report a total of 32 converters had been reported stolen. ....

Adams announces Griffin as MH's new chief of police

Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams has announced that acting Chief of Police Eddie Griffin has been selected as the city’s new top cop.
Adams made the announcement Wednesday afternoon at the Mountain Home Police Department in front of an assembly of a dozen Mountain Home police officers, who cheered and applauded when Griffin was named as the new chief of police.
Griffin has 24 years of experience with the Mountain Home Police Department. He joined the force as patrolman and spent three years with that department before joining the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) for the next 20 years. He became the assistant chief in July 2020 and has served as the interim police chief since Carry Manuel retired last fall. ....

Man picks up 2nd set of endangering the welfare of a minor charges

A man placed on probation for 10 years after pleading guilty in 2018 to having drugs and drug paraphernalia around a small infant is in trouble again.
Two new cases have been opened against 21-year-old Hunter “Ty” Peifer. He entered a not guilty plea to his newest charges during an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.
Peifer who formerly lived in Mountain Home now shows an address in the small Jackson County town of Tuckerman.
In the newest case against Peifer, he is accused of possessing methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of minors.
The charges stem from a traffic stop in early February. Peifer was a passenger in the vehicle where methamphetamine was allegedly found. ....
