MCMC clamps down on another gambling-themed Raya ad

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has discovered another Raya ad promoting gambling activities. This came shortly after the online gambling platform GDBet333 was criticised last week for an ad that encouraged Muslims to gamble so they can win some money and celebrate Hari Raya. MCMC has since requested media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to remove the content and the Malaysian police are also currently investigating the case.
MCMC said in a statement that activities such as gambling are harmful to the community and it has since contacted media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to remove the ad in line with the terms of service and community standards set by them. The dissemination of such videos is uploaded on overseas-based platforms and cannot be controlled, MCMC said. It added that the content did not go through the Film Censorship Board because ....

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has reached out to various social media companies with requests to remove a Raya-themed advertisement made by a gambling website from their platforms.
The ad, which has gone viral on social media with one clip garnering more than 300,000 views on a Twitter account, is presented in a music video format where Muslims in Malaysia are encouraged to place bets through the gambling website in order to earn money for Hari Raya celebrations. ....

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has communicated with media platform providers such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to remove advertisements that invite Muslims to gamble to get funds for the “balik kampung” trip in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.
In a statement today, MCMC said the content would be removed in accordance with the terms of service, as well as the community standards set by the overseas- based media platform providers.
The statement was issued following a two-minute video advertisement by a gambling company, which went viral on social media sites, inviting netizens to earn extra money for the Aidilfitri celebration by using the company service. ....
