KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) did not issue an order to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to confiscate the mobile phone of Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
MCMC Corporate Communications Department said the commission only acted as a technical agency in assisting police investigation and did not give any order to seize item of evidence as required by the authorities to complete their investigation. ....

Cops record Syed Saddiq's statement over death of detainee

KUALA LUMPUR: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has given a statement to police after he commented on the death of A. Ganapathy in police custody.
The former Youth and Sports minister arrived at the Dang Wangi police headquarters around 9.55am on Saturday (May 22).
After walking out of the police headquarters at 12.47pm, he said he would give police full cooperation in their investigations over a video he had posted on his Instagram account.
I was told the case was being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Commission Act and Section 503b of the Penal Code.
My mobile phone and Instagram account was also seized by the police on the instructions of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, he told reporters. ....

Syed Saddiq questioned for almost three hours over video on death of detainee

KUALA LUMPUR: Police spent almost three hours quizzing Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman over a video he posted on Instagram.
Bukit Aman CID deputy director Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said police took a statement from the former Youth and Sports minister at Dang Wangi police headquarters at around 10am on Saturday (May 22).
He was asked to assist investigations involving a 57-second video clip titled #JusticeforGanapathy which was posted on his Instagram account.
We seized an iPhone 11 Pro Max and a SIM card, he said, adding that the case was being investigated for causing fear or public anxiousness and misuse of networks or networking services. ....

Man in trouble with cops after lying on Facebook that he was falsely tested positive for Covid-19

KOTA KINABALU: A man was interrogated by police for allegedly claiming on Facebook that he was falsely tested positive for Covid-19 at a government health clinic.
Labuan OCPD Supt Ahmad Jawila said the man, 22, had claimed that he had been given a pink wristband and asked to self-quarantine after being tested positive, only to then find out that he was negative when he got tested again at a private clinic later the same day.
The man also said
