WATERVILLE As the coronavirus pandemic persisted during the summer months last year, Maureen Rispoli and her coworkers at Mount Merici Academy brainstormed about how to bring the theme of “service” to the upcoming school year.
Rispoli, the K-8 French teacher and 3-8 art teacher at the private Catholic school, said they decided to create a pen-pal program with Oak Grove Center and Mount Saint Joseph Residences. ....

SIDNEY – Richard Arthur Boudreau, 89, died May 3, 2021, after living a faith-filled, compassionate, authentic life. He spent his final days being tenderly cared for by his children, family, and very close friends. Richard is best remembered for his devotion to community, his deep faith in God, and as a loving father to his children.
Richard was born in Waterville on May 25, 1931, to Alphonse Boudreau and Grace (Pooler) Boudreau. After graduating from Waterville High School in 1949, he served for four years in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. During the Korean War, he was stationed in Japan. He was very proud of serving his country. ....

The breakfast recognizing the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. s birthday, usually held at Senior Spectrum s Muskie Center in Waterville, was held virtually Monday because of the coronavirus pandemic.

WATERVILLE Let us all take this day and moment to acknowledge the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s unfinished work in addressing what he called the “triple evils” poverty, racism and militarism that prevent us from being a truly beloved community.
That was the message Rabbi Rachel Isaacs shared Monday morning at the 35th annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast, hosted by the Waterville Rotary Club. ....

Central Maine Gleaners Group wants to thank the vendors at the Waterville Farmers’ Market who donated healthy produce at the conclusion of each week’s market. Gracious donors included The Apple Farm (Fairfield), Eagle View (Winslow), Good Bread (Brownfield), Heald Farm (Troy), Junction Garden (Vassalboro), Marr Pond (Sangerville), and Snakeroot (Pittsfield).
Gleaning, or food rescue, is defined by the Maine Gleaning Network as: “gathering of produce after or during an active harvest and donating the produce to humans rather than for compost or for animal feed.
