IPOH: A former human resources executive of a pharmaceutical company, who went on the run from the authorities, was jailed for two months and fined over RM79,000 for making false salary claims. Siti Aisyah Mohamad Amir, 31, pleaded guilty to five out of 14 charges before Sessions Court judge S. Indra Nehru yesterday. She was sentenced to two months’ jail for each offence with the terms to run concurrently while the fine was imposed in default of 15 months’ jail. For the remaining nine charges, Siti Aisyah was discharged and acquitted under Section 171 (A) of the Criminal Procedure Code. This section empowers the courts to account for an existing conviction when considering any outstanding charges against an accused person. ....

IPOH: A policeman has claimed trial at a Sessions Court here to 25 counts of abetting his wife in making false salary claims for over RM200,000. Mohamad Iqbal Fakhruddin Roslan, 31, a lance corporal based in Shah Alam, pleaded not guilty to all the charges before judge Indra Nehru yesterday. He was charged under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009. If found guilty, he faces a jail sentence of up to 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the value of bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher. ....
