Montgomery County approves $1.8M in contracts


NORRISTOWN — Local leaders authorized a series of contracts totaling approximately $1.8 million during the April 1 Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The dozen contract awards, amendments and renewals spanned several departments including assets and infrastructure, public safety and information and technology solutions.
A big ticket item presented during the April 1 meeting was renewing an existing roads and bridges consulting agreement with McCormick Taylor, of Exton. The six-figure contract, not to exceed $720,000, covered advisory services, allotted for a one-year term with “one remaining optional annual renewal.”

A $316,446, three-year contract with Pinnacle Integrated Systems, Inc., of Malvern, covered “voice and data cabling services.” ....

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) The chairperson of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners said Monday she is seeking the 2022 Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.
Val Arkoosh, a Democrat, joins Lt. Gov. John Fetterman and state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta in planning to seek their party s nod next year for the job now held by Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey.
Toomey is retiring, opening up a seat in a swing state that is likely to be among the country s most competitive races next year.
Other Democrats who have said a Senate run is possible include U.S. Reps. Conor Lamb and Chrissy Houlahan. State Sen. Sharif Street has formed an exploratory committee and filed a candidacy statement with the Federal Elections Commission. ....

NORRISTOWN — Montgomery County Commissioners’ Chairwoman Val Arkoosh announced her intention Monday to run for the U.S. Senate.
The county’s top Democrat shared her plans for higher political office in a video Monday morning sent with a press release.

Montgomery County OKs coronavirus vaccination site-related contracts


NORRISTOWN — As the COVID-19 vaccination campaign continues to roll out in Montgomery County, local leaders authorized several contracts totaling roughly $213,000.
The package presented during the April 1 Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meeting were agreements between the county’s Department of Health and Human Services and several area providers.
A $136,395 contract with RGW Restoration LLC dba ServPro, of Norristown, covered “cleaning and decontamination services” at county-run vaccination sites.

A $51,535 contract with Johnson Controls-York Service, of Horsham, allowed officials to procure services for “chiller and cooling tower maintenance and repairs” at a vaccination site at the King of Prussia Mall, located at 250 Mall Blvd. in Upper Merion Township. ....

Montgomery County renews coronavirus disaster declaration ahead of anniversary


NORRISTOWN — Approaching the anniversary of the first COVID-19 cases being reported in Montgomery County, elected officials renewed a previously issued disaster declaration during a recent Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The order was initially established on March 8, 2020, according to the proclamation. Officials cited “widespread outbreak of coronavirus that overwhelmed first responders, health care providers and businesses within Montgomery County.”
The legislation instructs the county’s Office of Public Health and the Department of Public Safety “to coordinate the activities of the emergency response; to take all appropriate action needed to alleviate the effects of this disaster; to aid in the restoration of essential public services; and to take any other emergency response action deemed necessary to respond to this disaster emergency.” ....
