Cold weather proves no barrier to Montgomery children

Denice takes part in historic online Plygain event
Plygain services where people come together to celebrate the festive season with traditional carols across Wales had to be different this year because of the pandemic.
Instead of gathering, singers and groups were encouraged to submit a recording of their own performance and these were put together into two films, and shared as virtual Plygain across social media on December 20 and January 3.
One of those taking part was Denice Jaunzens from Montgomery who said: “I had to consider carefully, as you cannot sing a song that someone else has already chosen.
“It was a worthwhile challenge and it’s an honour to play a part in maintaining this tradition as a Welsh learner. I was very grateful to the organisers of the online format. ....

Christmas window display competition a hit in Montgomery

ARTIST, sculptor and jewellery designer Andrew Logan from Berriew was invited to Montgomery to judge the Christmas celebrations window competition.
He judged the competition based on two categories - business and residential/domestic properties. Andrew had a wide variety of designs and displays to choose from and the Christmas Festival Committee, is pleased to announce that the Bookshop (Eaves & Lord) and The Flower House were the joint winning entries for the business properties.
The two properties on Broad Street and Castle Street were the joint winning entries for the residential/domestic properties category.
Andrew was really impressed with all the entries and a prize from the competition sponsors and an autographed postcard from Andrew was handed to all entrants. ....

The Flower House
After spending an evening wandering around the town and judging the festive entries, sculptor Andrew Logan chose the winners as the Eaves & Lord bookshop and The Flower House.
Andrew is an artist, sculptor and jewellery designer based in Berriew.
He judged the competition based on two categories – business and residential/domestic properties.
