Ramadan likely to start from Tuesday, April 13
The moon sighting committee in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will meet today and a day ahead of the UAE to sight the crescent of the holy month of Ramadan.
Shabaan is the eighth month and Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Shabaan started in Saudi Arabia a day ahead of the UAE due to the early sighting of the moon in the Kingdom.
The UAE marks the 28th of Shabaan today (Sunday, April 11) and it’s the 29th of Shabaan in the KSA. ....

Angola’s Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG), the country’s oil and gas regulator, has announced it is postponing the Roadshow Session on the Petroleum Potential of the Blocks of the 2020 Bidding Round, previously scheduled for the 6th of April.
The event will now take place on the 12th of April, at the same time and place. The invitations already sent out will still be valid.
The agency states that the postponement is justified by agenda reasons, completely unrelated to ANPG, and apologises for any inconvenience.
Companies interested in participating in the event, and who have not yet received an invitation, can request one via email through licitacoeseventos@anpg.co.ao, providing the name and role of the company s representatives. ....

The African Union Commission congratulates Honourable Michel Sidibé, former Minister of Health and Social Affairs, of the Republic of Mali and former Executive Director of UNAIDS, on his appointment as the African Union Special Envoy for the African Medicines Agency (AMA). Hon. Sidibé was appointed by the African Union Chairperson H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, following the Executive Council decision of February 2021 (EX.CL/Dec.1110(XXXVIII)) requesting the Commission to nominate an African Union Special Envoy for the AMA. Hon. Sidibé will serve as the African Union Special Envoy for the AMA supporting the signing and ratification of the AMA Treaty by African Union Member States. ....

Angola: African Development Bank funds $530 million electricity project to expand renewable energy and regional connectivity - Afrik-news.com : Africa news, Maghreb news

The African Development Bank (www.AfDB.org) has committed $530 million to finance the construction of a 343 km, 400 kV central-south transmission line that will connect the north and south transmission grids in Angola and allow for the distribution of clean energy between the two regions.
The north of Angola has a surplus of more than 1,000 MW of mostly renewable power, whereas the south relies on expensive diesel generators, supported by government subsidies.
Transmission capacity will increase by 2,250 MW and eliminate the need for polluting, diesel-powered generators in southern provinces. The project, once operational in 2023, will avert the consumption of 46.8 billion litres of diesel per year in the south, cutting 80 megatons of CO2 emissions. The government of Angola will save more than $130 million per year in diesel subsidies. ....
