Former members of Alliance Woman’s Club meet The Alliance Review Former members of Alliance Women s Club gathered for lunch July 29 at Alliance Country Club.  Hostess Barbara Shoemaker welcomed the 34 ladies in attendance, and introduced her committee, including Paula Lee, Connie Mohr, RuthAnn Rinto and Georgene Gross. Former President Dottie Callender gave a financial update on the proceeds from the sale of The Alliance Woman’s Club. The funds will be placed in a donor adviser account with The Greater Alliance Foundation. Several former members of Alliance Woman’s Club will rotate on a donor advisory committee.  Shoemaker told those on hand that the new owner of the club’s former building said he is renovating it to be used as an event center.

Miss Massillonian, Outstanding Senior Boy candidates step closer to titles

MASSILLON – Dazzling in a pinkish peach gown, Washington High School senior Mikiya Smith looked poised and confident. Shining as brightly as the sequins that dotted her gown, no one would have any idea she fears public speaking.  The young woman shared three fears with the crowd of students, parents and school staff who had gathered in the auditorium. Smith is among the 12 candidates vying for the prestigious title of Miss Massillonian. On Friday, the young ladies and 12 of their classmates up for Outstanding Senior Boy took center stage in their formal wear to answer random questions for a panel of judges on their journey to earning the titles.

The Massillon school board is talking vaccines, plans for graduation

Wednesday meeting DISCUSSION:  Superintendent Paul Salvino said the rollout of vaccines for staff members is set to begin Feb. 1. District officials have been in ongoing conversations with the Massillon Health Department since the pandemic began and were set to meet Thursday to discuss more details on how the immunization will be administered. A few buildings are set to get the shots Feb. 1 followed by the remaining staff members, he said. Plans call for health department staff to come to the schools to give the vaccine. The collaboration with the Massillon City Health Department has been so amazing, he said. Since March when all this jumped off there has been countless conversations with (Director) Terri (Argent) and others.
