The 27-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to two counts of contravening a domestic violence order when he appeared before Maryborough Magistrates Court this week. The court heard the man had never spent time in custody before. But after being denied bail, he spent 50 days before bars. The court heard the charges related to incidents in March. In one the manâs behaviour became erratic during a trip to Rockhampton. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A woman with no criminal history was busted with more than three grams of MDMA when her belongings were searched after she was placed in a secure mental health unit. Britney Ann Goodwin, 20, pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a dangerous drug when she appeared before Maryborough Magistrates Court this week. The court heard on May 28 last year, about 11.30pm, Goodwin was placed in the secure unit. When the MDMA was found, she made frank admissions about it, saying it was for personal use, the court was told. She had been clean from drugs ever since and was engaging well with the Richmond Fellowship, which provided support for people facing mental health challenges. ....
Tears were shed by Damien Michael Patrick Gallaher’s family as his crimes were read aloud to the Gympie court on Thursday. Gallaher, 29, pleaded guilty to 11 charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering and possession of a weapon under the influence. He was sentenced to seven years jail, but will be out on parole in just over two months, on June 27, 2021. On February 27, 2021, Gallaher went on a shotgun rampage between Gympie and the Cooloola Coast, before he was arrested by police. The rampage began with an argument between a drunk Gallaher and a colleague outside a local pub, where Gallaher threatened to shoot his colleague with a 12-gauge shotgun he owned. ....

It was a decision that landed Cameron Glenn Churchill before Maryborough Magistrates Court. The court heard Churchill had been stopped by police for a random breath test when a search uncovered the knife. Churchill told police the weapon belonged to his girlfriend. After becoming victims of a home invasion 18 months ago, the couple had carried the small knife for protection, the court was told. Acting Magistrate John Milburn said the information provided some context and some reason for carrying the weapon. ....
