Party-goer fined for Yeppoon street fight

A man seen throwing punches during a melee in a Yeppoon street has been fined for his part in the incident.
Robert John Edward Richards, 24, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday to a public nuisance charge.
The court heard that police were called to a Yeppoon street at 11.48pm on December 5 in relation to a disturbance.
Officers saw a number of people fighting in the street and Richards was seen throwing punches.
The court heard that Richards had attended a party on the night and got involved in the fight.
He sustained a head gash in the incident and paramedics were called to the scene. ....

Admin issue means 20yo keeps his licence


Brandon Rivers Thompson pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday to unlicensed driving.
The court heard that Thompson was stopped by police at Tannum Sands on December 12 for speeding.
Checks showed he was SPER suspended since December 6.
Thompson said he did have a SPER account but he hadn’t made payment because he wasn’t sure “what the go was”.
He said he hadn’t been notified his licence was suspended.
Acting Magistrate John Milburn said it was Thompson’s lucky day as he hadn’t been charged specifically for being SPER suspended which meant he was not required to be disqualified. ....

Yeppoon P-plater had 20 drinks before driving

Ivan Mark Davenport, 29, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on Thursday to drink-driving.
The court heard that police spoke to Davenport at 2am on November 29 while attending Rawlings St at Yeppoon in relation to another matter.
During those conversations, Davenport admitted he had driven there from Tanby after consuming about 20 drinks.
He returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.119.
Acting Magistrate John Milburn heard that Davenport had a limited traffic history before fining him $650 and disqualifying him from driving for five months.

She couldn t help herself - and she got caught.
Her stupid blunder on November 6 when police saw her driving on Moores Creek Rd, Rockhampton, saw her hit with the mandatory minimum two-year licence disqualification in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday.
It was there the 35-year-old pleaded guilty to disqualified driving.
Acting Magistrate John Milburn fined Thompson $750 on top of the two-year driving disqualification.

P-plater Tyson Whyatt Dwyer drove while intoxicated and with no registration plates on the vehicle.
He also didn t have his provisional plates on, as required by law, and his registration had expired.
The 20-year-old pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday to drink-driving, driving while unregistered and uninsured, and not displaying P-plates.
The court heard that Dwyer, a roofer, was intercepted by police on Hill St, Emu Park, about 10pm on December 4.
He recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.082 when he had a zero limit.
Acting Magistrate John Milburn was told that Dwyer had a very limited traffic history. ....
