GREAT FALLS â Summer is going by fast and so are free meals for children in Great Falls. Great Falls Public Schools is now in the seventh year of its summer food program, designed to give kids of all ages a healthy meal at no direct cost.
On Monday, more than 600 sloppy Joe sandwiches were made to be given out - just a fraction of what has been given this summer.
They normally expect to serve about 20,000 USDA-funded meals during the summer but last Friday, they surpassed 50,000 total meals, marking one of their busiest summers ever.

Dr. Jesse Ulrich hired as 6th President of Iowa Central

The Iowa Central Community College Board of Directors announces Dr. Jesse Ulrich will serve as the College’s next president. Dr. Ulrich, an Iowa Central graduate and member of the College’s 2019 Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame, will begin his role on July 1, 2021. Dr. Ulrich will be the sixth president of the College. He shares Iowa Central’s deep-rooted belief and commitment to positively impact the economic, social, and cultural opportunities of students. In addition to administrative experience, Dr. Ulrich brings to the College a proven history of building partnerships, implementing student-centered initiatives, and collaboratively leading teams through consensus and empowerment to accomplish goals.
Students, staff and community members are invited to meet the four finalists for the principal position at High Lakes Elementary School during a virtual forum Wednesday, May 5 at 4:15 p.m. Attendees will get a chance to see presentations from the candidates and provide feedback about the finalists. Finalist details: Erich Brocker is currently serving as the assistant principal at William E. Miller Elementary School in Bend, a position he has held for six years. Prior to that, Brocker spent three years as an administrator at Highland Magnet at Kenwood School. Brocker also spent 10 years as regional principal and school psychologist for the Sonoma County Office of Education. Colleen Chamberlain is currently serving as Student Services Coordinator at Sage Elementary in Redmond, a position she has held for six years.
