Extra funding boost will see improvements to Clarence Park

This is in addition to the wider £1.1m green spaces improvement programme approved in November 2020.
The extra £600,000 will be put towards the full refurbishment of Clarence Park in Bury and the completion of St Mary’s Park in Prestwich.
At Clarence Park, improvements will include a new £150,000 replacement skate park, refurbishment of the tennis courts, play area, ball zone, paths, railings, signage, landscaping, benches and bins.
At St Mary’s Park improvements will include play area and ball zone refurbishment, as well as completion of the tennis court fencing.
There will also be provision for further development of the Burrs Strategy, as well as health and safety works and developing external funding bids towards the longer term sustainability of the well-used country park. This is in addition to £70,000 that has already been allocated to improve car parking at Burrs. ....

BURY Council is gearing up to invest over half a million pounds into revamping play facilities across the borough.
The £550,000 investment recognises the need for quality, safe, accessible and sustainable play facilities that help maintain and improve the quality of people’s lives.
The first stage of the improvement programme is due to start in early March with work continuing throughout 2021.
£300,000 has already been allocated to improve six play areas and four ball zones across the borough.
The play areas are at Manchester Road Park, Openshaw Park, Close Park, St Mary’s Park, Whitefield Park and Goshen Playing Fields. ....

Parks in Bury set for £1.1m of improvement works

BURY’S parks are set to have have £1.1M spent on them in the coming months.
Manchester Road Park, Hoyles Park and Openshaw Park have each been allocated £140,000 to be spent in 2021/22 and will have their play areas refurbished.
Other work envisaged includes painting railings at Hoyles Park, installing drains and gulleys in low flooding areas at Manchester Road Park and improving access around bowling green at Openshaw Park.
Nuttall Park bandstand will have a new canopy on top costing £67,000.
And Burrs Country Park will see its overflow car park surfaced to increase use of it all year round, with the scheme costing £70,000. ....
