Clinton pharmacist sentenced to prison for health care fraud conspiracy

A Clinton pharmacist has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for conspiracy to commit health care fraud.Marco Bisa Hawkins Moran, 45, was sentenced Tuesday to 120 months in prison, followed by three years supervised release, according to federal officials. Moran has also been ordered to pay a monetary judgment of $12,200 in addition to more than $22 million in restitution and a $20,000 fine.A news release from the U.S. Attorney s Office of the Southern District of Mississippi said Moran, as co-owner of Medworx Compounding and Custom Care Pharmacy, participated in a scheme between 2014 and 2016 to defraud Tricare and other health care programs, including those that provided coverage to employees of the city of Jackson.
